Air Fuel Mixture Adjustment. There are two screws basically. Turn the screw using a slot screwdriver until the engine reaches a smooth idle, where it is neither sputtering as a result of a lean fuel/air mix or has a strong smell of fuel from the engine running rich.

Typical adjustment position is between 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 turns out (ccw) from lightly bottomed out. The gauge needle, however, was somewhat erratic so i concluded that this was due to a discrepancy in the mixture screws. Start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes to warm it up.
That Is My Problem Right Now With The Pilot Screw Turned To 1.25 Turns.
With the engine at normal operating temperature, adjust all the idle mixture screws until the engine idles at the desired rpm with the highest manifold vacuum. It results in a fuel to air mixture that is leaner than regular. Many beginners don’t even think about making a fuel mixture adjustment because of the fear of messing things up.
There Is Only One Mixture Screw On Our Carbs.
Always make air fuel mixture screw adjustments with a warm engine and the engine running, so you can listen to how the adjustments affect the engine’s idle. Stock is 2.5 turns, if recall. As you can see, the idle adjustment screw on the carburetor side part.
This Adjustment Richens Or Leans The Entire Fuel Map.
Pull the carb, drill out the little cover over the screw, remove the screw and replace with one from kientech engineering. A good starting point is to seat the screws, then back them out 1 1/2 turns. Use the instructions for the 04, same for the 5.
And That Results In A.
Start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes to warm it up. This adjustment repositions the wiper on the shaft that holds the flap. The rpm may increase, then slow again;
Warm The Engine To Operating Temperature.
For running mixture you would change the jets or metering rods. This adjustment has a greater effect upon the high rpm/load end of the map. It is easiest to remove the drive belt first.
